WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Oklahomans put up $160,000 to see the Bushes hanged -- their portraits, that is.
The oil portrait of President George W. Bush shows him seated on a green sofa in a Western-style shirt. First lady Laura Bush's painting shows her reclining on her right elbow with a book propped on her lap, The Washington Post reported Saturday.
Donors in Oklahoma got involved in the portraits after Robert Slater, an Oklahoma City hotel entrepreneur, asked a Hall of Presidents gallery official about the cost of commissioning paintings.
Funding for the first lady's portrait was provided by The Marlene and J.O. Stewart Jr. Foundation, the newspaper said.
