Store told to nix jokes on fliers

PORT TALBOT, Wales, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- A South Wales shopkeeper said police told him there have been complaints about the jokes he has printed for years on his store's leaflets.

Bob Singh said a police officer came into his store, Landmark, and said he could face prosecution for a public order offense if there are further complaints about the jokes he prints on his store's fliers, The Daily Mail reported Friday.

"The bizarre thing is that they wouldn't tell me which jokes were offensive, what was offensive or who had complained about them," Singh said. "There's no bad language in them or racism although a couple are a bit saucy -- but they are not offensive.

"We've been doing this for years and I've never had a problem until now. I get the jokes off the Internet," he said.

Singh said he has put a sign in the window of his store reading: "We would like to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the contents of our Christmas leaflet. In future we will try to be more politically correct."
