FORT PIERCE, Fla., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- An MRI scan that purportedly shows an image of the Virgin Mary brought a high bid of $730 on eBay, says the U.S. woman whose brain was scanned.

Pamela Latrimore, 42, of Fort Pierce, Fla., said she put her scan up for auction to raise awareness about people, like herself, who suffer from illnesses caused by industrial chemicals, TCPalm.com reported Wednesday.

Latrimore's scan, viewed 21,977 times on eBay, was won by an anonymous California bidder Tuesday night.

Latrimore alleges she sickened by living near a pesticide manufacturing plant in her hometown of Jacksonville, Ark., from 1948 to 1986.

The $730 is to be used to start a non-profit organization to aid other people sickened in her hometown, said Latrimore, noting her own medical bills now exceed more than $100,000.

"Most of my friends I graduated with are dead," she said. "These families should be one of our top priorities."
