MIRAMAR, Fla., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Police said a South Florida pizza delivery man escaped an alleged armed robbery by throwing a piping-hot pizza at his attacker.

Investigators said a gunman ordered Eric Lopez Devictoria, 40, to enter a Miramar residence while he was on a delivery call shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Friday.

Devictoria told police he lobbed the pizza at the gunman and heard at least one shot as he fled from the home.

Police said two 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy were arrested a short time later and charged with armed robbery.
