That fish was how big again?

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A Raleigh, N.C., woman says she played catch-and-release with a big fish that likely would have set state and world records in size.

Gwen Frazier, 49, said she caught a huge black drum Nov. 23 while fishing off North Carolina's Topsail Island, but decided to release the fish rather than keep it and potentially earn a world record, The Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer said.

"I'm 5 foot 4 (inches)," Frazier said, "and the fish was exactly my height."

Fisheries biologist Randy Gregory of the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries said if Frazier's claim of 64 inches is accurate and true, the fish likely could have been a state or world record-setter.

Gregory said the state record is a 100-pound, 1-ounce fish measuring 56 inches in length, while the world record fish weighed 113 pounds, 1 ounce. The world record length was not reported.

Gregory applauds Frazier for releasing the fish despite the allure of potential fame.

"The lady should be commended for releasing this fish," he told the newspaper. "She should be applauded. There are very few of these really big fish. They're incredibly important to the stock."

Alleged burglar trapped in sealed chimney

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Authorities in St. Louis said an alleged burglar's Santa-style mode of entry left him trapped for more than seven hours in the flue of a pawn shop's chimney.

Police said Charles Bryant, 35, was foiled in his alleged burglary attempt when he found the base of the chimney at St. Louis Jewelry and Loan had been sealed with concrete, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Firefighters said they spent more than two hours Wednesday morning using power chisels and hammers to get the suspect out of the chimney.

Bryant, who was treated at a hospital for shock and a shoulder injury, was arrested and charged with second degree burglary.

Police: Drug dealer sought X-mas money

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Police in Port St. Lucie, Fla., said an alleged drug dealer told an undercover police officer he was hawking the pills for Christmas money.

The arrest affidavit for Charles Latos, 30, accuses him of entering an undercover St. Lucie County sheriff's investigator's vehicle and traded 40 oxycodone pills for $480 from the incognito cop, TCPalm.com reported.

"Charles told me he was there to conduct a drug transaction," the undercover investigator wrote in the affidavit. "Charles told me he needed money for Christmas. Charles told me he does this every once in a while."

Sheriff's investigators said they also found ammunition in Latos' white Pontiac Sunfire that the suspect said belonged to a friend who had sold a gun previously in the week.

Latos was charged with felony counts of sale and delivery of oxycodone, trafficking in oxycodone and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Swedish man rescued from tree

KRISTINEBERG, Sweden, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A Swedish man said the fire department had to be called for a rescue after he followed his cat up a tree and couldn't get down.

The Kristineberg, Sweden, man said he climbed the tree Wednesday after his cat had been stuck for several days, and then panicked when he found himself about 50 feet above the ground, The Local reported.

"It was kind of a funny assignment and certainly out of the ordinary," emergency worker Torbjorn Nilsson told The Local. "Once he was way up in the tree, the man didn't dare to come down."

Nilsson said the situation had a happy ending for both man and cat.

"First we took down the cat, then the guy," said Nilsson. "Everything ended well."
