ALBUQUERQUE, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- An Albuquerque mom says she didn't intend for three staff members at her daughter's school to lose their jobs when she voiced concern over a Christmas carol.

The choral director and two other education assistants at Ventana Ranch Elementary School quit, claiming they had been pressured by the city school district over a line about "nine unpaid EAs" in school choir's version of "The 12 Days of Christmas."

KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, said Wednesday that the unidentified woman believed children should not be involved in an ongoing beef over money between the EAs and school administrators and e-mailed district headquarters asking that the line be changed to something less opinionated.

The matter quickly degenerated into an argument over censorship that resulted in the director of the choir and two other EAs quitting and the choral program at Ventana being canceled.

The unidentified parent told KRQE that her child was in the choir and had really enjoyed it.
