MERTHYR TYDFIL, Wales, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A Welsh man was sentenced to four months in jail after he repeatedly smiled and waved at a police camera while breaking a school area speed limit.

Prosecutors at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court said Robert Jones drove between 40 and 49 mph on at least six different occasions in the 30 mph zone outside of a village school, The Sun reported Tuesday.

Authorities said all of the offenses happened within the space of nine days. They said he tried to avoid prosecution for the offenses by registering his car in the name of his 13-year-old daughter.

Jones was sentenced to four months in jail and his driver's license was revoked for six months after he pleaded guilty to speeding and perverting justice.
