POT ST. LUCIE, Fla., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Police say a would-be thief in Florida escaped but left the goods behind after he grabbed some beer and shoved a pack of corn dogs down his pants.

The tall unshaven man entered a Publix grocery store in Port St. Lucie, jammed a pack of State Fair Corn Dogs in his pants, grabbed a 18-pack of Bud Light and walked out of the store, said a police report.

When a store employee challenged the man, he set down the beer and fled, TCPalm.com reported Monday.

The corn dogs were recovered a short distance away, while the alleged thief eluded capture, the report said.
