HARWICH, Mass., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Police in Harwich, Mass., said they are investigating the origins of an intact and in tune piano found without explanation in the woods.
Investigators said the Baldwin Acrosonic piano, model No. 987, was found alongside a bench positioned as though someone had intended to sit down and play by a woman walking a trail in the wooded area, CNN reported Monday.
Harwich police Sgt. Adam Hutton said the department has been in contact with other Cape Cod-area law enforcement agencies, but thus far none has offered any information about a missing or misplaced piano.
Police said the heavy instrument required several officers to load it into a vehicle and take it to storage, leading investigators to believe it likely needed more than one person to position it on the conservation land.
