PRYOR, Okla., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Police said no one was injured when a dog shifted its owner's car into reverse at a Pryor, Okla., car wash and backed the vehicle into highway traffic.

Officer Brent Crittenden said the 70-pound pit bull jumped onto the dashboard and shifted the 1982 Buick's gears while its owner was cleaning the car at Spot Free Car Wash, the Pryor Daily Times reported Friday.

Crittenden said the vehicle backed onto Highway 69 and looped back into the automated car wash lane of the business.

He joked the pit bull was licensed with the city so he did not have to "take the dog to jail."

However, the car was impounded after the owner failed to provide proof of insurance.

Crittenden said the owner was allowed to walk the dog home.
