NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- New York police say a subway rider suffered a slash wound in a Halloween encounter with a Grim Reaper on a New York subway.
Lee Dutton, 21, of New Hampshire was cut on the No. 6 train on Manhattan's Upper East side in an altercation that started when the Reaper waved his sickle in his girlfriend's face.
The New York Post said Sunday that the mythical figure of death was actually a fellow straphanger who produced a box cutter and cut Dutton on the neck while challenging any other passengers who cared to get involved.
The costumed Ismael Guevara was arrested at the next stop.
Dutton told the Post that the suspect nearly lived out his role as the box-cutter blade narrowly missed his jugular vein. "His intentions were definitely there, he just didn't succeed too well," he said.
