LONDON, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A senior citizen is said to have thwarted two youths breaking into a jewelry shop in London with sledgehammers.

The man, thought to be in his 70s, walked up to one of the robbers as one of the would-be thieves was smashing his way into the store. As the youth was swinging his sledgehammer, the man plucked the balaclava from his head.

As the youths fled, the man shouted: "I've got your DNA."

The man boarded a bus immediately after the incident, the newspaper reported.

The events were recorded on camera by another shopper who took a photograph of the robber after his knit cap was removed. It has been handed over to the police.
