Nurse's 'naughty knickers' were on eBay

LONDON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A British nurse who used her hospital e-mail address to sell her underwear on eBay could be barred from hospital premises, officials said.

Sheena McMillan's side business came to the attention of authorities at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth when an automatic alert system picked up an e-mail headlined "Naughty Knicks," The Sun reported. That was a reference to the British term for panties, knickers.

The business was clearly catering to sexual fetishists, since McMillan offered clean underwear for 20 pounds ($32) and dirty underwear for 23 pounds ($37).

The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard testimony Tuesday on McMillan's business. Sarah Page, speaking for the council, said that the messages were clearly inappropriate and that eBay bidders would have realized that the knickers were being sold by a registered nurse.

The council referred the case to its health committee.

McMillan, who was not at the hearing, argues that whatever she did has nothing to do with her ability to carry out her duties as a staff nurse.

Motorcyclists visit all U.N. member states

BRISBANE, Australia, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- An Australian couple say they have completed a 12-year motorcycle trip to every member country of the United Nations.

Peter and Kay Forwood of Brisbane said they spent 10 months out of every year riding their Harley Davidson across 193 countries, starting with their native Australia and ending with New Zealand, The Dominion Post reported Tuesday.

The Forwoods said their trips through the United Nations member states -- including Iraq, Afghanistan and North Korea -- racked up more than 300,000 miles on their bike. They said they paid for their excursions through investments and savings plus a small amount of income from renting out their home.

The couple said their globe-trotting days are not over, noting they want to hit places they missed before.

"We'll keep going till the bike dies," Peter Forwood said.

Naples archbishop takes word to Facebook

NAPLES, Italy, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A Catholic archbishop in Naples, Italy, says he is enjoying using the popular social networking site Facebook to communicate with people the world over.

Naples Archbishop Crescenzio Sepe, 65, said Tuesday he set up his Facebook account during the weekend and since then has amassed a small army of friends, ANSA reported Tuesday.

"I'm getting 200 new friends every day," Sepe said.

He said he did not think it was unusual for a man of the cloth to use the Internet as a tool.

"You have to go where the people are and if the people are on Facebook you go there too," the archbishop said.

Sepe said he has been receiving messages in "all the languages of the world" on his Facebook account.

''But Neapolitan is still the most beautiful,'' he said.

Python dish raises ire of animal group

LONDON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Animal welfare groups have criticized a London restaurant for serving python in a coconut sauce.

Andrew Tyler of Animal Aid condemned restaurant Tooties, saying snakes killed for human food are "conscious for an hour after they are crudely decapitated," The Sun reported Tuesday.

"There is this constant lookout for new species to exploit and kill -- it is a sick downward spiral," Tyler said.

A Tooties spokesman said of the python dish: "We always look to be innovative."
