TEQUESTA, Fla., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Martin County, Fla., said a 78-year-old man allegedly struck and choked another elderly man on a golf course.
A Martin County Sheriff's Office report said John Paul Flanagan, 78, was arrested and charged with battery of a person over 65 after he allegedly hit the other golfer in his right eye near the 18th hole of the Riverbend Golf Club, TCPalm.com reported Monday.
Witnesses said Flanagan went into his condo near the course, emerged a few moments later and began choking the other man.
Flanagan was released after posting $2,500 bond.
The report said Flanagan told Deputy Jeff Smith that he has an ongoing dispute with the victim because the other man does not pay to play golf or own property at Riverbend.
