PLAINFIELD, Ill., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Police in Plainfield, Ill., say they arrested a man who broke into a home and fell asleep in a chair.

Investigators said Brett Sherry, 31, was charged with felony criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to property and battery after he allegedly broke into the home through the back door and attempted to stop a woman who came downstairs from fleeing, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

Officers found Sherry still in the house sleeping in a chair after the woman escaped and alerted authorities.

Police said Sherry told them he thought he was breaking into his own home, which is located about 2 miles away from the break-in.
