NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The New York City Health Department says Daniel is the most popular name for newborn boys in the city, unseating Michael for the first time since 1956.
The department's annual list of baby names, which was compiled from a catalogue of 128,961 births in 2007, said Michael fell from the top position for the first time in more than 50 years as 865 newborns were named Daniel in 2007, the New York Post reported Thursday.
Jayden was the second most popular name for boys, with 846 newborns sporting the moniker.
Isabella and Sophia topped the list of girl's names, edging out last year's most popular name, Ashley.
