MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Police in Melbourne, Fla., say a truck reported stolen contained 5,000 Sony PlayStation video game consoles.
Melbourne police said the estimated $750,000 worth of video gaming equipment was reported missing along with the tractor-trailer by the truck's driver just prior to 8 a.m. Monday, WKMG-TV in Orlando reported Wednesday.
Truck driver Robert Arden Fisher, 61, told police he had left the truck in the rear parking lot of BJ's Wholesale Warehouse at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and discovered it missing when he returned for it Monday morning, Officer Jesus Lopez said.
Fisher said the truck had been locked and the trailer was secured with a U.S. Customs lock and a personal padlock. He said it had contained 28 pallets that each held 250 PlayStations.
Brian Kurtz Trucking said the royal blue 2007 Kenworth T2000 rig bore Ontario registration and was worth about $150,000. He said the white-and-blue Stoughton semi-rig trailer was valued at about $50,000.
Police said they have contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for assistance in recovering the truck.
