BORAS, Sweden, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A young Swedish woman has won a fight with a cell phone company over charges for unsolicited pornographic text messages.
Emelie Magnusson, 18, told the newspaper Boras Tidning that for three days in May she received a large number of sexually explicit messages.
"They said something about big-breasted 18-year-olds and that it would cost 20 kronor," she said. "But I didn't dwell on it, I just deleted all the messages. Then the bill came."
The pornography added up to 1,660 kronor ($220). When she contacted Three, the company that provided her cell phone service, she was told she had to pay up, and customer service suggested she fight it out with the British company that sent the texts.
In July, another barrage of pornography added 1,170 kronor ($160) to her debt.
Magnusson lost her cell phone service. But Three changed its mind Thursday after local newspapers covered the dispute and agreed to restore Magnusson's service and to pay damages for the period when she was without her phone.
"It feels really good. This just shows that you should never give up. You have to dare to question things. I'm just really happy right now," she said.
