WICHITA, Kan., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Mattel Inc. says the sound that emanates from the U.S. toy manufacturer's Little Mommy Cuddle N' Coo doll is not an Islamic saying.
While a number of individuals claim to have heard the children's doll say "Islam is the light," the toy company said in a statement that those individuals are simply mishearing the toy's pre-programmed cooing sounds, The Wichita (Kansas) Eagle said Thursday.
"There is a sound that may resemble something close to the word 'night, right, or light,'" the company said. "To avoid any potential misinterpretation, we have eliminated that segment of the sound file from future production."
The Wichita chapter coordinator for the Muslim Public Affairs Council has also stepped forward to dispel claims of a religious-minded doll, the Eagle reported.
"If you listen to something long enough or look at some pictures long enough, you might hear or see things that others say they are seeing or hearing," chapter official Maher Musleh told the newspaper.
