WEST HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Police in West Hartford, Conn., say a woman allegedly poisoned her real estate agent with cake that was tainted with a substance that may have been marijuana.

Investigators said Nancy Glass, 51, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and second-degree tampering with evidence after a piece of cake she gave to a 28-year-old ERA Broder Group real estate agent allegedly made the man ill, the Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported Monday.

"The guy who is the victim is selling a house for Nancy Glass," police Capt. Paul Melanson said. "He met with her (Thursday) morning to talk about the sale of the house. She offered him a piece of cake. He ate it."

Melanson said emergency responders determined that it was the piece of cake that triggered the victim's illness.

He said the cake, which was confiscated at Glass' home, has been sent in for tests. He said Glass allegedly told someone the pastry had been laced with marijuana.

Glass was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending arraignment.
