PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A survey of U.S. movie ticket Web site Fandango users ranked "The Dark Knight" villain "The Joker" as this year's top movie-inspired Halloween costume.

The survey of 3,000 Fandango users indicated the second most popular movie-inspired costume for Halloween 2008 is "Dark Knight" protagonist "Batman" as played by Christian Bale with Robert Downy Jr.'s "Iron Man" from the movie of the same name coming in third, Fandango said.

For women, the top costumes chosen by those polled were "The House Bunny" as played by Anna Faris and characters played by Kristen Stewart in "Twilight" and Angelina Jolie in "Wanted."

Fourth place went to Downey's character in "Tropic Thunder" and Miley Cyrus' "Hannah Montana 3D" character.

"Movies have always been great fodder for Halloween costume ideas," says Ted Hong, Vice President of Marketing for Fandango. "Many of pop culture's most iconic characters come from film. The best part is that each year you get a new supply of costume suggestions, thanks to the latest Hollywood inspirations, and this year has provided a bumper crop."
