Police: Drunken man made himself at home

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Police say a 50-year-old man was intoxicated when he allegedly entered someone else's home in Gaithersburg, Md., had a snack and went to sleep.

Montgomery County police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said Gaithersburg residents Bob and Joanne Breiner returned to their home Sept. 27, only to find a man they didn't know sleeping soundly in their bed, The Washington Post said Thursday.

Baur said the couple and their son fled the house and contacted police, who woke up the confused man a short time later.

The unidentified man was 8 miles from his real home in Damascus, Md., after apparently getting off a bus several stops too early and mistakenly entering the Breiners' home.

The family told the Post that the man was so apologetic for the drunken mistake that they decided not to press charges.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," the Breiners quoted the man as saying in his defense. "By the way, you have a very comfortable bed."
