NEW YORK, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A New York woman told a court she couldn't serve as an unbiased juror in a cop-slaying trial because she had once been a murder victim.

The woman, who was being interviewed at the Supreme Court in New York's Bronx borough to serve as a juror in the trial of Steven Armento, told the court she was severely stabbed by her husband last year and temporarily died from her wounds, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

"I expired, but the doctors revived me in the operating room," the woman said. She complained to the court that she believes her husband should have been charged with murder.

However, prosecutor Terry Gottlieb told her that "to bring an indictment for murder,

you have to -- fortunately for you -- stay dead."

Justice Martin Marcus didn't accept the potential juror's murder excuse but he did allow her to leave the jury due to memory issues related to the trauma of her attack last year.

Armento was charged alongside "Sopranos" star Lillo Brancato in the 2005 shooting death of police officer Daniel Enchautegui at his home.
