MINNEAPOLIS , Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A disaffected Chicago Cubs fan in Minneapolis said he is auctioning his loyalty to his once-favorite baseball team on eBay.

Scot Moore, 30, said he had decided to give up on the Cubs even before Sunday's loss brought the team its 100th year without a World Series title, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

"In the interest of sparing my emotions from one more gut-wrenching season," Moore wrote in the description for eBay item 120313290200 after the Cubs lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the playoffs Thursday, "I am auctioning off my loyalty to the Chicago Cubs." The Cubs were swept from the first-round of the National League playoffs for the second straight year.

Moore said that once the auction ends, he will donate proceeds to two local theater troupes, burn all of his Cubs paraphernalia and wear a sports team jersey chosen by the winner.

Bids on the auction, which closes Monday, were approaching $500.
