Wuhan Zoo officials said the two male pandas, Xiwang and Weiwei, became restless and were running around their enclosure at about 10 a.m. Wednesday after the "golden week" holiday, which celebrates the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, brought more than 1,000 loud tourists to see the bears, Xinhua, China (OTCBB:XHUA)'s official state-run news agency, reported Friday.
The keepers said they fed the pair of pandas chicken soup for lunch to calm their nerves and replenish their energy. They said it was the first time the bears had been fed the soup but they polished off the meal without apprehension.
Zoo keepers said other animals in the zoo, including sea lions and monkeys, were also served special meals Wednesday.
