Kieron Hawkins, Max Miller and a third pupil, age 14, must sit in the hallways of Oakmeeds Community College in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, for two weeks for breaking the school's hair length rules, the British tabloid The Sun reported Monday.
Kieron's father Glenn told the newspaper he is furious with the school, calling the punishment "stupid" and saying, "Why should you have to be taught in isolation just because you have short hair? Kieron has had crew cuts before and always has quite short hair anyway."
But head teacher Colin Taylor maintained the boys and their parents all knew of the rules.
"We have a policy that we accept no extreme haircuts and the pupils all know that," he told The Sun. "It is written in the school's code of conduct and parents are aware of it."
