Party organizer Jimmy Lemke said he's been trying to cancel Saturday's school-spirit block party every since the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee warned he could be expelled, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Lemke, president of the student basketball club, thought an alcohol-free party would boost spirit and improve attendance at the 29,000-student university's games.

But comments left on his site on Facebook suggest hundreds of would-be participants were in the mood for rowdy alcohol-drenched merrymaking, the Journal Sentinel reported.

Lemke -- and the Milwaukee police -- were to be on hand Saturday to make sure the party didn't happen, Lemke said, noting "Facebook is a really powerful instrument."
