Coupe a perfect gift for Wash. couple

CHELAN, Wash., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A woman in Chelan, Wash., says her husband of nearly 50 years bought her the same exact coupe they drove the day of their wedding.

Pat Hand said when she attended the Fall in Chelan car show with her husband, Max, and their son, she was shocked to see a 1948 Plymouth coupe that looked identical to the one the couple used during their 1958 wedding, The Wenatchee (Wash.) World said Wednesday.

Hand said she was even more surprised when she found "The Blue Goose" written on the vehicle in the same spot that it had been on their former car.

But her surprise at that discovery was nothing compared to finding her own name as the vehicle's owner as listed on a windshield tag.

"I started bawling and laughing, and everyone around me started clapping," she said.

For his part, Max Hand told the World Saturday's event was "perfect" from his wife's response to the weather.

"It turned out to be a perfect presentation. The weather, the whole thing couldn't have been more perfect, it worked out so well," he told the newspaper.
