Nepal man finds bliss with 25th wife

KHANDBARI, Nepal, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A Nepalese man says when it comes to marriage, the 25th time is the charm.

Ramchandra Katuwal, 49, of Khandbari said his first three marriages ended with heartbreak when his wives ran off with other lovers, and the fourth through 24th unhappy unions came and went in such rapid succession he can only remember nine clearly, the BBC reported Wednesday.

However, Katuwal, who first got married at the age of 26, said his current marriage to wife No. 25 has been a "journey of happiness" and the pair recently celebrated their seventh anniversary.

Katuwal said he had nearly given up hope after his last failed attempt at a blissful marriage.

"(Like other ex-wives) the 24th one also ran away. And I decided not to marry again," he said.

But he said he changed his mind after meeting 23-year-old Sharada in 2007.

"I wanted to have a wife, because a house is not house without a wife," he said.
