PALESTINE, Texas, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A Palestine, Texas, UPS driver said he marked two major milestones in a single day -- his 22nd anniversary as a driver and his truck's one millionth mile.

Brent Boyd said he has been driving truck 903, one of the UPS's smaller package trucks for rural and urban delivery, since he began in 1986 and even brought the vehicle with him when he transferred to Palestine from Lufkin, Texas, in 1989, The Daily Sentinel (Nacogdoches, Texas) reported Friday.

"I told them I'd come as long as I could take my truck," he said. "I wanted to bring (her) because that way I'd have a good truck, and she was still pretty new then."

Boyd said he and truck 903 have covered a 220-mile daily route for nearly 20 years that involves the towns of Crockett, Grapeland, Elkhart, Laxeto and Austinio.

He said UPS's larger package delivery trucks commonly reach the one million mile mark, but the milestone is rare for smaller trucks like his.
