ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Potential U.S. first lady Cindy McCain sported about $300,000 in designer clothes and accessories at one of the GOP convention sessions, fashion experts said.
Vanity Fair totaled up the duds McCain wore during Tuesday's session of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., and found the Oscar de la Renta frock McCain wore was $3,000; the Chanel watch, $4,500; shoes, $600, and a four-strand pearl necklace, between $11,000 and $25,000, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
Rounding out the ensemble were 3-carat diamond earrings, a mere $280,000. The newspaper said the jewelry estimates were based on the assumption that the gems were, ah, real.
First lady Laura Bush, by comparison, wore an outfit that night estimated to cost between $3,000 and $4,000, the newspaper reported.
