Seattle, Mercer Island and Bellevue residents complained they have been awoken by late-night deliveries in their neighborhoods and claim the trucks are violating noise ordinances based on state law, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Friday.
"They deliver everything from soup to nuts, and they rattle and bang. I've got to go out there in my pajamas and knock on the truck," Mercer Island resident Paul Crane said. "I'm almost 90 years old. It's killing me."
He said the noise caused by the AmazonFresh trucks is causing discord between him and neighbors who use the service.
"I've called Amazon at least 10 times, and I can't get to first base. They said, 'All we do is take deliveries, goodbye,'" Crane said. "My neighbor doesn't care if I'm stressed or not. It's caused terrific strife between my neighbor and myself."
Residents said many of the deliveries take place between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., which are scheduled quiet hours in the cities.
"I actually have tried to contact Amazon, and they're not returning my e-mails," said Jimmi Serfling, code compliance officer for Mercer Island. "Amazon seems to really isolate themselves from talking to people they don't want to."
