Women fight for topless rights in LA

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Organizers of a Los Angeles protest said hundreds of women turned out to fight for their right to bare their chests in public places.

The event, organized by Web site GoTopless.Org, was aimed at giving women the same rights as men to remove their shirts in public, the British newspaper The Sun reported Thursday.

GoTopless.Org said "as long as men can be topless, constitutionally women should have the same right, or men should also be forced to wear something hiding their chest."

Protesters, many of whom wore plastic nipples over their clothes as a sign of their cause, argued that topless women are more pleasant to look at than some men who remove their shirts in public with no legal repercussions.
