Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department officers said when they arrived at the home of Katherine H. Kranz and her husband, Russell, they found the 46-year-old man had taken shelter at a neighbor's home, The Fond du Lac (Wis.) Reporter said Wednesday.

A criminal complaint against Kranz alleges that she attacked her husband after he complained about a drink she had made him.

Kranz allegedly lashed out at her husband with a knife and pummeled him with tomatoes as he begged for his life Sunday, the complaint says.

The woman has countered the allegation by claiming her husband hurt his head by falling off of a chair while intoxicated, the Reporter says.

The newspaper said Kranz is being held on $5,000 cash bail and is facing charges ranging from first-degree reckless endangerment to disorderly conduct.
