Pharmacy's sex toy selection not biased

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The sex toy selection at Sweden's state-run pharmacy Apoteket doesn't discriminate against men, a government agency decided.

Since June, Swedes have been able to buy sex accoutrements from their local pharmacy, but two men claimed the stocked items -- vibrators, vagina balls and dildos -- cater to a more feminine crowd, The Local reported Monday.

In his complaint to the Swedish Equal Opportunities Ombudsman agency JamO, one man wrote the sex aids available indicated the chain "had a misguided and untrue view on sexuality where a woman with a dildo is seen as liberated, strong and independent, whereas a man with a blow up plastic vagina is viewed as disgusting and perverted."

Eva Fernvall, who oversees products for Apoteket said it was her understanding "there are no products of good quality for men on the market. Should there be such products specifically for men, then there is nothing stopping us from selling them."

In its ruling, JamO wrote, "Apoteket's goods are made available to men and women, and therefore Apoteket does not break the law regarding sex discrimination."
