NEWPORT, Wales, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Playing a song by the singer Cher so loud that neighbors could understand its lyrics is reason enough to destroy a man's stereo, a Welsh court has ruled.
Rhondda Magistrates' Court granted an application for the destruction of a stereo belonging to Karl Wiosna, 44, who allegedly ignored repeated warnings about playing his music too loud, The Telegraph said Sunday.
An unidentified neighbor alleged that the music emanating from Wiosna's house near the town of Pontypridd at one point sounded like a "drag queen's party."
"The noise was just unbearable. It went from sounding like a drag queen's party to a rock concert," the neighbor alleged. "The music was just non-stop."
Neighborly complaints to Wiosna allegedly were ignored and he was eventually brought before the court for disturbing the peace.
Wiosna told the Telegraph he was displeased by the resulting legal ruling, which took away more than $1,000 worth of his property.
"I didn't play the music that loudly -- and it wasn't just Cher -- I used to play heavy metal as well," he said.
