VORHEES, N.J., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A fat cat named Prince Chunk who landed in a South New Jersey animal shelter has a new home, officials said.
Prince Chunk, who weighed 44 pounds when he arrived at the Camden County Animal Shelter, has also been given a diet and exercise program, The New York Daily News reports. Catherine Harr, the shelter's president, said a veterinarian found that the cat has none of the problems that might accompany obesity.
"Aside from being grossly obese, the cat is completely healthy," Harr said after getting the cat's test results. "No diabetes. No thyroid problem. Nothing. He was obviously overfed."
Prince Chunk's new family, selected from more than 500 applicants, already own two cats. Their identity is being withheld.
The cat had to be moved once because his first foster family could not take the media attention.
Prince Chunk came to the shelter because his previous owner lost her home in a foreclosure. He became a national celebrity because of his size.
