NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Police in Naperville, Ill., say they are pleasantly surprised that a businesswoman voluntarily turned over a $25,000 ring she found on the ground.

Police Cmdr. Dave Hoffman praised businesswoman Karren Wonders for deciding to contact police about the ring, which she discovered downtown with its eye-catching price sticker still attached, the Naperville (Ill.) Sun said Friday.

"Her efforts are very admirable," Hoffman said. "It's refreshing to have this type of high-value property turned in."

Wonders told the Sun she chose to hand the ring over to authorities due to her upbringing but did admit she hesitated for a moment after finding the valuable jewelry Tuesday.

"It just wouldn't feel right," Wonders said of her momentary impulse. "It just wasn't right and it's not how I was raised."

Hoffman told the Sun that if no legitimate owner comes forward to claim the gold pinkie ring Wonders may ultimately be rewarded for her trustworthiness with the pricey trinket.
