SANDY, Utah, July 23 (UPI) -- Police said they have arrested a Sandy, Utah, man who allegedly pulled a handgun on a fellow motorist who asked if he had any "Grey Poupon."
Investigators said the 22-year-old man was incensed at the request for Dijon mustard, an oft-used reference to an old commercial for the product featuring two men rolling down their windows at an intersection, and pulled a black handgun from his glove compartment, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday.
The three occupants of the other car said the man cocked the weapon, pointed it at them, and said: "Here's your Grey Poupon, roll your ... windows up."
Police said one of the car's occupants took down the man's license plate number and the suspect admitted to the incident when confronted by officers. The 22-year-old man was charged with a third-degree felony count of aggravated assault.
7-year-old driver rolls mom's car
HADLEIGH, England, July 23 (UPI) -- British authorities say they are investigating a case involving a 7-year-old who flipped his mother's car after deciding to go for a late-night cruise.
David Johnson crept out of his family's Hadleigh, England, home Tuesday night to go for a ride in his mother's red VW Golf, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
The adventurous 7-year-old made it only 30 feet before he flipped the car and crashed into a fence post, trapping himself in the wreckage, the newspaper said.
"I wanted to drive the car but I tipped it over and hit the fence. I was worried when it went on its roof and I hurt my arm. But then all I thought about was what mum was going to think," he told reporters.
Firefighters were able to remove him from the vehicle and he was taken to a medical center with injuries to his arm, officials said.
Officials said the boy was released from the hospital and he is too young to be criminally charged.
'Pantyhose Bandit' frustrates locals
MILFORD, Mass., July 23 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts woman said she is fed up with a mysterious "Pantyhose Bandit" suspected of dumping pairs of woman's undergarments near a children's bus stop.
Confused neighbors have asked police to help solve a case involving scores of pantyhose that have been appearing near a bus stop in Milford, Mass., for at least two years, the Milford Daily News reported Monday.
"It's weird, it's odd, it's scary for the kids," resident Laurie Warich said. "I picked 43 up one day -- 43 pair, one day."
Chief Thomas O'Loughlin said officials have questioned one possible suspect, but the crime isn't severe enough to launch a complete investigation.
"It's not a situation where you'd put two detectives on overtime and have them sit there every night. The end doesn't justify the means," he said.
Suit: Teacher kicked, called student ugly
SPRING VALLEY, Calif., July 23 (UPI) -- A former student at a Spring Valley, Calif., school has filed a lawsuit alleging a teacher kicked her in the buttocks and called her "ugly."
Jade Ray, who was a freshman at Mount Miguel High School until she left the school after the incident, claims in her suit that she was attempting to join the school choir in handing out singing grams on St. Valentine's Day when teacher Heather Hargett was outraged by her questioning the $15 price tag of the T-shirts worn by her fellow choir members, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Wednesday.
The lawsuit, filed in San Diego Superior Court, alleges Hargett told Ray she had to leave the class if she could not afford the T-shirt. When Ray questioned whether she was serious, the teacher kicked her in the buttocks and called her "ugly" and a "brat," the suit claims.
John Gomez, Ray's attorney, said the lawsuit is seeking more than $75,000 for the pain and humiliation suffered by his client.
