More than a quarter of their public waiting rooms, 27 in total, display a photo of Bush. Bipartisanship is demonstrated, with four Democrats and one independent joining 22 Republicans in hanging the president's photo on their office walls. When you include offices with several Bush pictures, a total of 79 Bush images are on display by Senate lawmakers, the political newspaper Politico reported on its Web site Thursday.
Interestingly the office of Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, who has harshly criticized the Bush administration on many occasions, sports more photographs of the president than any other Democratic senator, Politico reported.
Dodd's press secretary, Bryan DeAngelis, offered an explanation that had no relation to the president's popularity.
"Of the 26 pictures in Senator Dodd's front office," he said, "there are a number of photos of the senator participating in the 54th and 55th presidential inaugural ceremonies in his role as a member of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies."
