NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- New York parks employees are on the hunt for a diamondback rattlesnake that they say bit a pit bull in a Bronx park.

The dog, named Stone, is doing well in an animal hospital but Parks officials remain concerned about the potentially deadly snake slithering around in a populated area, the New York Post reported Friday.

"I'm scared. Obviously, a lot of people around here are scared," said Raul Rodriguez, superintendent of the agency's District 11, which includes the park. "Where the bite happened is a very secluded area," he said. "Lovers tend to go there. I'm afraid for them and others, too. There are kids in this park."
