NEW YORK, July 15 (UPI) -- A pair of septuagenarians on motor scooters who pulled into New York's Times Square say they loved their transcontinental journey.

After four weeks and more than 3,400 miles, Buddy Rosenbaum, 71, and Bob Chase, 72, finished traveling the historic Lincoln Highway that spanned 14 states and 500 cities aboard a pair of Piaggio MP3 500 492-cc three-wheelers, the Daily News reported Tuesday.

"The Lincoln Highway is 3,400 miles of museum. It's a national treasure. And every day, another piece is gone," said Rosenbaum of the first national highway which runs from San Francisco to New York.

"We've seen some incredible sights: the salt flats of Utah, the deserts of Nevada, the cornfields of Nebraska," Chase said, describing how the pair covered 100 to 150 miles a day while often stopping for photographs and conversations with people along the way.

The elderly easy-riders are already planning their next trip -- along the length of the Alaskan Highway.

"You have to keep the adrenaline flowing," Rosenbaum said.
