LONDON, July 15 (UPI) -- A British man says his 15-year endeavor to piece together 98 shredded love letters he had sent to his late wife has finally come to completion.
Ted Howard said the letters, which he wrote while courting Mollie, the woman who would later become his wife, were torn to shreds and shoved into a couch by Mollie after she discovered someone reading them in 1953, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.
However, Howard salvaged the fragments and took on the daunting task of reassembling them 15 years ago. He said he was further inspired when Mollie died three years ago and he found his project helped to deal with the grief.
"I still miss Mrs. Howard terribly but having the memories helps me through," he said. "The letters brought back so many good times. I now want to write a book about them so everything is committed to paper before it is too late."
