SAN ANTONIO, June 26 (UPI) -- San Antonio police said they are on the lookout for a man accused of pretending to be a police officer.

Police said a man driving a black Ford Crown Victoria became suspicious when he stopped an officer who was not on duty.

The driver of the vehicle, which had emergency lights attached to the grille, took off when the officer showed him a badge, the San Antonio Express-News reported Wednesday.

San Antonio Police Department spokeswoman Sandy Gutierrez said authorities have not been informed of any other situations involving the fake cop.

"We have a lot of stealth vehicles with decals and SAPD logos. This vehicle did not have decals or logos," Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez advised drivers to stop in a crowded, well-lit area when being pulled over by an unmarked vehicle.
