CINCINNATI, June 25 (UPI) -- The lone clerk at an Ohio gas station said he had to close up shop Tuesday night after a computer glitch caused the pump price to tumble to $1.49 per gallon.

WKRC-TV, Cincinnati, said word got around quickly and sheriff's deputies had to be called to clear up a traffic jam as some motorists waited for two hours to top off their tanks.

The clerk at the Marathon station in Sycamore Township told WKRC he was working by himself and didn't know how to correct the problem. He said he repeatedly tried to get a hold of the manager, but after three hours he decided his most prudent move would be call it a night and lock up.
