PERTH, Australia, June 23 (UPI) -- An Australian man who is trying to auction off his life on eBay says he just wants to "move on" following the breakup of his 8-year marriage.

Ian Usher, 44, of Perth, Australia, decided to auction off nearly everything in his life, including his car, home, jet ski, friends, hobbies and job, after his marriage collapsed, the British newspaper, The Guardian, reported Monday.

"It's going much better than I'd anticipated," he said. "My life's on a much more even keel now. I'm ready to move on."

Offers reached at least $1.7 million after the auction began Sunday, the newspaper said.

"I've been checking and they do seem to be genuine bidders at the moment," Usher said.

He added that even if the auction falls through, he will always be remembered as "the man who couldn't sell his life on eBay."
