NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- Katrina Chalifoux of Rockford, Ill., won $1,000 for making a wedding gown out of toilet paper, Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com reported.

The prize was awarded at a Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest during a celebration at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium in New York.

Other winning entries in the fourth annual competition came from Texas and Hawaii, Cheap-Chic-Weddings reported Thursday.

Laura Gawne, Susan Bain and Roxie Radford, who run the Internet site on ways to reduce wedding costs, said they got the idea for the contest from a game played at bridal showers.

Cheap-Chic-Weddings advised contestants to construct wedding dresses and headpieces out of only Charmin toilet paper, tape and glue.

"The level of talent that presents itself each year always amazes us," Gawne said.
