CLEVELAND, June 16 (UPI) -- A 91-year-old suburban Cleveland lawyer who worked with union leader Jimmy Hoffa says he never saw any indication of the corruption that landed Hoffa in jail.

Bernard Goldfarb, 91, who continues to practice law from his home and the Robert E. Sweeney firm in downtown Cleveland, said he was never made aware any illegal dealings while he was negotiating with the Teamster boss, The Plain Dealer newspaper in Cleveland reported Monday.

"This man worked day and night," he said. "If a guy's corrupt, I don't know if he'd work that hard. Everything I experienced was above board. We created a grievance committee that still exists."

Goldfarb, who has twice argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, said he plans to continue working despite his advanced age.

"I find it the most wonderful profession," he said. "The new problems that come up are challenging."
