Jackpot-winning doorman seeks apartment

NEW YORK, June 12 (UPI) -- A New York doorman said his new life's goal after winning a $5 million state lottery jackpot is to purchase an apartment in the building where he works.

Richie Randazzo, 44, said the only apartment currently available in the building is out of his rage with a $9.95 million price tag, so he will continue to work as a doorman at the building until there is an opening that fits his budget, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Randazzo won the top prize from a $10 Set for Life instant ticket May 2. The prize pays out $5,000 a week for the rest of his life, with a guarantee of at least $5 million.

Until he can fulfill his dream of an apartment in the Park Avenue building, Randazzo said he is focusing on another task -- the search for a mate.

"If they want to start a reality show called, 'Who Wants to Marry a Scratch-Off Millionaire,' let me know," he said. "They can call it, 'From Rags to Richie.'"
