Photos show Jeffs kissing underage girls

SAN ANGELO, Texas, May 28 (UPI) -- Texas officials have introduced pictures of polygamist Warren Jeffs kissing young girls as evidence in the battle over 400 children taken from Jeffs' group.

The photos depict Jeffs, a convicted polygamist and leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, kissing two girls who appear to be minors, CNN reported Wednesday.

The pictures were entered into evidence as part of the Tom Green County District Court case of a family whose children were among those seized from the sect's Yearning For Zion Ranch in April. Texas officials claim there was a "pervasive pattern" of underage girls on the ranch being forced to marry older men.

Jeffs is serving two consecutive five-year prison sentences in Utah for two counts of being an accomplice to rape in connection with a wedding he presided over in 2001.
